Welsh Olympic star Lauren Price will defend her WBA welterweight title in Liverpool against Colombian contender Bexcy Mateus.

If Price comes through, she will likely fight the bill-topper on the December 14 show at Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre, Natasha Jonas, who clashes with Ivana Habazin.

Price is 7-0 (1 KO) and defeated Jessica McCaskill in Cardiff in May.

The gold medallist is 30 and from Ystrad Mynach and yet to lose a round as a professional. Mateus is the WBA’s No. 5 and is 7-0 (6 KOs), but fighting outside of Colombia for the first time.

“I’m excited to be out defending my belts to finish what has been a big year for me,” said Price. “I have full respect for Mateus. I’ll prove I’m the best in the division and I won’t let anything, or anyone stand in my way of becoming undisputed.”

Added to the bill is an interesting junior middleweight clash between Ireland’s 15-0 (14 KOs) Stephen McKenna and Bournemouth’s 14-7 (7 KOs) Lee Cutler. McKenna won a three-round battle with Joe Laws last time out, while Cutler has been waiting all year for a date, and has been working with coach Josh Pritchard as part of McGuigan’s Gym.

English cruiserweight champion Viddal Riley, 11-0 (6 KOs), returns from a rib injury suffered when defeating Mikael Lawal and super middleweight Mark Jeffers, 18-0 (5 KOs), also sees action.

Mason Cartwright, a 20-4-1 (8 KOs) junior middleweight, is also on the show, as is 8-0 (1 KO) Frankie Stringer.
