Conor McGregor lost his rape case and was forced to pay £206,000 in compensation to the victim.

The jury in the civil case against Conor McGregor ruled that he sexually assaulted Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel in 2018.

The second defendant, James Lawrence, was ruled not to have assaulted Ms McGregor and was ordered to pay a total of £206,000 in compensation to Ms Hand following the verdict.

The former two-division UFC champion is facing allegations that he “sexually assaulted and essentially raped” her in a hotel room six years ago. Both Lawrence and McGregor deny the allegations against them. The mixed martial arts fighter told the court he had consensual sex with Ms Hand in a penthouse at the Beacon Hotel in December 2018. McGregor allegedly pinned the defendant to the bed and “violated, raped and brutally beat her”.
The jury was told Ms Hand suffered serious injuries including bruising to her body and bleeding scratches to her chest.

Ms Hand also said she used forceps to remove a sanitary pad from her body in hospital after the alleged rape.
But the jury returned to the courtroom just before 5pm where it ruled in favour of Ms Hand’s claims against McGregor. The Irish athlete sat with his fiancée Dee Devlin and his mother Margaret as the verdict was read out.
McGregor is said to have shaken his head after the jury’s decision was read out in court.
