Milwaukee Bucks fans expect changes to their squad this summer after the bitter disappointment of the 2023-24 campaign. What the supporters might have not anticipated, however, is the potential exit of general manager Jon Horst.

According to reports, the Detroit Pistons are interested in acquiring the services of the high-ranking Bucks executive, which likely means that Horst will have a decision to make this summer.

Horst obviously played a key role in bringing Doc Rivers to the squad. These two have a conducive, albeit currently short-lived, working relationship — one that the former NBA champion coach hopes will flourish in Milwaukee in the years to come:

“I’m hoping none of that happens, I’m being honest,” Rivers said of Horst’s potential summer exit, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “I don’t know enough about it all. You know, it’s funny, I don’t read that stuff because I just don’t need it, but it’s out there. That’s something Jon will probably have to answer at some point. But I’m expecting Jon to be here, I really am.”

For his part, Horst has kept mum about his rumored departure. The 41-year-old, who was named the NBA’s Executive of the Year in 2019, hasn’t denied these links and it appears that he is going to be interviewing for the job vacancy in Detroit as the organization’s president of basketball operations.

All this will only make the offseason more interesting for the Bucks.
