There’s no doubt about it. The Milwaukee Bucks are going to make some changes to their roster ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. This team fell way short of their expectations this past season, and you can be sure that the coaching staff and the front office will be working hand-in-hand this summer to make sure that they enter the new year with the best possible roster.

Head coach Doc Rivers isn’t ready to discuss these looming changes just yet. However, the one-time NBA champion coach has been vocal about one particular area he wants to improve on significantly.

Milwaukee Bucks News: Doc Rivers Rues Team’s Lack of Athleticism

Simply put, the Indiana Pacers humbled the Bucks in the first round. While this was an undeniably painful encounter for the entire squad, Coach Doc is also using it as a learning experience to determine what changes his team needs to make this summer.

According to Rivers, the one area that the Pacers took full advantage of was the Bucks’ lack of athleticism.

“I think they were a more athletic team than us,” Rivers said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “They were one of the most athletic teams in the NBA as well. So every year you make changes.

“Again, it’s too early for me to tell you what those changes are going to be, but athleticism is probably one of the things at the top. But we don’t need track athletes, we can go get those from anywhere. …We need skilled athletes. I think that’ll be a very high focus for us.”

As Rivers said, he has no intention of divulging Milwaukee’s detailed offseason plans in terms of restructuring their roster, but he has made it abundantly clear that the squad’s lack of athleticism is going to be a top priority they will address this summer.

It is worth noting that the Bucks have a couple of young and athletic guys on the roster already in Andre Jackson Jr. and MarJon Beauchamp, so it’s also possible that Rivers looks in their direction this offseason. These two young studs didn’t really get many opportunities under Rivers in 2023-24, but this could all change if they are able to prove themselves this summer.
