Giannis Antetokounmpo saw zero action in the postseason for the Milwaukee Bucks. This is after the former back-to-back MVP suffered a devastating calf injury right before the Playoffs started.

As it turns out, he is not the only Antetokounmpo who is dealing with a significant injury. Apparently, his older brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo has suffered a torn Achilles that will require immediate surgery.

NBA guru Shams Charania of The Athletic broke the news on Wednesday evening:

Not too many details are available at the moment, and it is unclear how Thanasis suffered the injury at this point in the season.

This is a tremendous blow for Thanasis, who will be turning 32 this summer. A torn Achilles is one of the worst injuries a player can suffer, and it requires a significant recovery period. In the past, multiple players have missed full seasons recovering from this type of injury.

Being that he hasn’t exactly been able to establish himself as a key rotation player for the Bucks, it will be very interesting to see how the summer plays out for the 6-foot-7 forward. His current deal is set to expire at the end of this season, and he will be a free agent this summer.

It goes without saying that Milwaukee will take this injury into serious consideration as they ponder on whether or not to give the elder Antetokounmpo another contract extension.
